As seems to be the case with all of Nintendo's consoles, new revisions and updated models are always coming out. Some have compared Nintendo to a car maker,
always updating and enahcing their current console line up with even more flavours. Much like they had the orginal DS that then turned into the DS Lite. They continued this process with the Nintendo DSi consoles. First bringing out the Nintendo DS which was not much bigger than the DS Lite, and then bringing out their big guns in the form of the Nintendo DSi XL console, with a screen that was much bigger, and a console that was much bigger too. Are the offices here we prefer the DSi XL over the original DSi console. Maybe we have big hands, or maybe we just like the enjoy our games on a bigger screen.
With the DSi XL, while the screen was larger, the pixels remained the same. So what we ended up seeing was a bigger version of the games. With the Nintendo 3DS, we always felt that the higher resolution could have handled a much bigged screen in terms of viewing the games in 3D mode. In fact, we're sure that any issues with being able to see games in 3D will be done away with when your eyes have a much bigger area to focus on.
For those of you who have an R4 3DS or are planning on getting an R4 3DS, you may be wondering whether or not your card will work on the new Nintendo 3DS XL systems. While we can't say for certain until we have our hands on one, we can say that historically, while screens have gotten bigger from the DSi to the DSi XL, the inside of the systems stayed the same. Meaning your R4i SDHC Card worked on your DSi XL just as it did on the DSi before it. We expect the same thing with the Nintendo 3DS XL consoles. You'll be able to take your R4 3DS from your 3DS console, and them plug it right in to the 3DS XL without a hiccup.
Naturally, we'll have our hands on one of these as soon as they are released, and we'll be unboxing and testing out r4 cards in the system. And of course, if for some reason the console does not recognize our cards, we'll be working hard at an updated firmware that will ensure continued compatibility for the 3DS XL owners out there.
