Our customers often ask which r4 cards work on the 2DS.  With the 2DS and 2DS XL being the newest entried in the 3DS line of handheld consoles, knowing which r4 cards work on the 2DS is important.  There are numerous cards and one must be sure to select the card that is fully compatible.

As mentioned earlier, there are many different types of R4 Cards.  They have been around since the first R4 DS card for the DS and DS Lite.  Many of the original R4 Cards are not compatible with the 3DS or 2DS systems.  What makes things a little bit more complicated is the fact that earlier R4 3DS cards only supported the 2DS / 3DS systems up to system version 4.5 and could not support any later udpates.  This however, has been remedied in the cards that came our after that time.

Below we will list the R4 cards that work on the 2DS systems.  Keep in mind that all of the cards that work on the 2DS and 2DS XL systems will also be fully compatible with the 3DS, 3DS XL and NEW 3DS systems.  There aren't different cards for the 2DS and 3DS.  All of the same cards will work on both.

1. R4 3DS

The first card on our list is one of the very first cards that added support for the 3DS console when it was first released.  Prior to this version, it was the R4i SDHC which was designed to work on the DS and DSi systems.  Once the 3DS was released the R4 3DS had perfect support and has been working throughout every update that has been released.  It works with and is compatible with all DS, DS Lite, DSi, DSi XL, 3DS, 3DS XL, 2DS, 2DS XL and NEW 3DS systems. 

2. R4i Gold 3DS Plus

The R4i Gold 3DS, much like the R4 3DS is considered to be one of the best R4 Cards that work on the 2DS.  It has regular updates when needed and they are always free.  This is the newest version of the R4i Gold 3DS card.  The PLUS in the name indicates that it has an internal switch that lets it go from a standard flashcart to an NTRBoot card for CFW installations, should you want to do that.  This card has excellent compatibility and works without a single issue on all DS, DS Lite, DSi, DSi XL, 3DS, 3DS XL, 2DS, 2DS XL and NEW 3DS systems.

3. R4 3DS Dual Core

The R4 3DS Dual Core cards were a little later to market for the 3DS and 2DS Systems, but that didn't stop this card from having great compatibility with all the file types you would throw at it.  Like the other R4 Cards that work on the 2DS, these cards are also fantastic when it comes to retro gaming and emulation, offering full compatibility with all of the available emulators.  Make sure to only purchase on of our official Dual Core cards as there are a lot of fake and clone cards on the market that do NOT work properly and have a built in timebomb which renders the card useless after a certain date.  The R4 3DS Dual Core is all fully compatible with all DS, DS Lite, DSi, DSi XL, 3DS, 3DS XL, 2DS, 2DS XL and NEW 3DS systems.

4. R4 3DS RTS

This card is one of our customer favorites, and it gets some great reviews from people who have purchased the R4 3DS RTS card.  It supports and works on all of the same systems that the R4 3DS Dual Core card works with.  It offers excellent compatibilty and the latest firmware fixed any of the small bugs that were present.  Like the Dual Core it is also a favorite when it comes to emulation and retro gaming.  The R4 3DS RTS is also fully compatible with all DS, DS Lite, DSi, DSi XL, 3DS, 3DS XL, 2DS, 2DS XL and NEW 3DS systems.

5. R4i Gold Pro

The R4i Gold Pro card is from the same family of cards as the R4 3DS Dual Core and rhe R4 3DS RTS Card.  It offers an alternative to the other R4i Gold 3DS and the R4i Gold 3DS Plus.  Much like those cards the Gold Pro also offers perfect compatibility and receives updates to the firmware files as needed.  The newley released 4.0b firmware makes this an even more solid card.  This cards if also fully compatible with all DS, DS Lite, DSi, DSi XL, 3DS, 3DS XL, 2DS, 2DS XL and NEW 3DS systems.
