Lode Runner Returns 3DS Homebrew Game For R4 3DS

Lode Runner is one of those games that just won't go away.... and that is a good thing.  It was originally published way back in 1983, after sending it for a second time to Broderbund and several other game publishers.  It offered up action and puzzle game elements that are still as fun today as they were back when the game was first released.  It was also one of the very first games ever released that included with it a level editor, something that players took to in droves.  The level editor meant that you and your friends could create your own levels, trade and swap then and in turn add endless replay value to this amazing puzzle game.

It was initially released on the Apple II computer, and won awards for the gameplay and the game itself.  Many fans of Lode Runner still consider the Apple II version to be the must play version of the game, despite it being ported to countless other systems.  And that is what this 3DS homebrew version of Lode Runner captures in full.  It is a faithful freeware remake of the Apple II version of the game, with some updates and enhancements to allow it to take advantahe of the DS, DSI and 3DS systems.  With the use of an R4 3DS card you'll be able to relive and play what is probably the best version of Lode Runner ever made.  It includes not only the original 150 levels, but the Championship Edition of Lode Runner as well, adding another game type which makes for 300 different levels.  The music in the game is from the actual arcade version, and this 3ds homebrew is an absolute joy to play!

From the developers description of the game The story is: The Bungeling Empire has confiscated gold chests.  It's up to you to rescue them !
The player controls a stick figure who must collect all the gold in a level while avoiding guards who try to catch the player. After collecting all the gold, the player must travel to the top of the screen to reach the next level. There are 150 levels in the game which progressively challenge players' problem-solving abilities or reaction times.

See below for the actual gameplay video of this game running on a DSI.  It works them same with the R4 3DS on your Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo 3DS XL and Nintendo 2DS systems.   And of course, you can download the game from our 3DS homebrew section.
