Neo Geo Games On your 3DS With NeoDS and the R4 3DS

There has always been a lot of talk about being able to play homebrew games, and just as importantly, emulators on the Nintendo DS, Nintendo DSI and now the new Nintendo 3DS Console.  Thankfully there are close to 100 classic console emulators available, allowing you to play virtually any system you want.  IMagine having a portable Atari, or a portable Sega Genesis.  With the release of the R4 3DS card, gamers have been able to get a taste of some serious homebrew gaming, and of course, all of the same emulators for classic game systems that R4 owners have been enjoying on their DS Lite and DSI consoles too.

Neo Geo AES

One of our very favourite emulators (and all time favorite classic consoles) has always been the Neo Geo home system.  If you know this console, we don't have to tell you why we absolutely love it.  While other home systems were much more affordable, and had their fair share of Arcade conversions, only the Neo Geo MVS / AES brought the arcade game experience home.  Why?  Well, because the arcade version and the home system were one and the same.  Both played the same games (just in differently shaped cartridges) and they truly let you bring home all of the same arcade games you were busy putting your coins into.

With NeoDS, an Neo Geo emulator for the Nintendo 3DS, you can re-live and play all of those old cool games once again.  NeoDS allows you to transform your 3DS in to a fully functioning, full speed Neo Geo Console.  While not every single game works (yet….) almost all of the most popular games play just fine and without any glitches.  Over 152 Neo Geo games are supported.

You would imagine that a console like the Neo Geo would be nearly impossible to enjoy using an emulator on the R4 3DS.  We say this because it was the top of the line at the time.  In terms of graphics, sound and sheer processing power, it was leaps and bounds ahead of 16 bit consoles like the SNES and Sega systems.  And with the R4 3DS, you can now take your Neo Geo with you on the go.

Games like Metal Slug, King Of Fighters, Samurai Shodown and plenty more.  These classic games made video gaming what it is today, and not trying them out and playing them on your 3DS would be a darn shame.  Neo DS is still very much a work in progress, so you'll find it gets updated pretty frequently with minor bug fixes so that even more games can run at full speed without any issues.  There are plenty of games to try and to enjoy and play.  The Neo Geo was chalk full of arcade quality games that you simply could not play any other way.
