Scribble Jump 3DS Homebrew Is Doodle Jump Fun On Nintendo 3DS XL

I love Doodle Jump on my iPhone, and it seems that tens of millions of other people do too.  It's a quick pick up and play game that you can sink your gaming chops in to, and start playing right away, without giving it too much thought.  But oneScribble Jump For 3DS things for sure… once you start playing, you'll have a hard time putting the game down.

The premise of the game is simple.  Your character has only one goal - and that is to get as high as possible up the different platforms all the while dodging different baddies and getting through and avoiding obstacles in the form of birds and falling items, etc..  There are a decent number of power ups too, so you can always pimp out your character and make it even more fun with shooting hats, bombs you can drop, and more.  Trust me, you'll love this game!

Unlike several other well known iOS and Android games, Doodle Jump never made it to the 3DS like Angry Birds did, which is a shame, because the Nintendo 3DS would make for a great system to have the game ported on to.

As is often the case, the homebrew and indie development scene for the Nintendo 3DS (and DS / DSi too) comes to the rescue once again in the form of a freeware game release that gets you your Doodle Jump fix on your Nintendo 3DS.

scribblejumpmainmenu.jpgI'm not talking about a Doodle Jump port… but instead of a Freeware / 3DS Homebrew game called Scribble Jump.  Scribble jump was published by a lone developer that absolutely loved the game - and even tried to contact the Doodle Jump makers to see if they would approve his game and make it available on the 3DS system.  They decided not to pursue it, and the developer changed the graphics to make it unique and gave us all our own free version of this amazing game.

Scribble Jump gameplay is very close (if not identical) to Doodle Jump.  Don't forget, this was meant to be presented as a port of the game for the DS and 3DS systems.  Much of the game has stayed the same.  The main character however has changed as well as some of the bonus items and add on helmets and special items.  This was done to make sure that despite the game being freeware and homebrew, the graphics, etc.. would be unique and the developers own.

Not only is this a great 3DS homebrew game, it ended up getting so popular that it has since been ported over to Android and phone Android phone and tablet owners are now playing this awesome game on their mobile phones too.  A lot of people wonder why developers make games of this quality and then give them away for free.  I can't say for certain why it is, but what I can encourage everyone to do is to say THANK YOU to the hard work that goes in to making these Amazing games and applications in the DS and 3DS Homebrew scene.
