Flappy Bird Ported To The Commodore 64 Just Because It Could Be Done

Long ago, on retro and new systems everywhere, we were all waiting for our ports of Doom and Duke Nukem to hit whatever platform they could port it to.  We fondly recall the first time we were about to play Doom on the Nintendo DS, and now the Nintendo 3DS with our R4 3DS cards.  We also recall the awesome remakes of classic games like Flashback, Lemmings, and countless others released as homebrew.  Retro games are hot, and they seem to only get better and better as more and more people become interested in classic games and classic retro gaming in general.   So why then should Flappy Bird, arguably the most talked about video game for the last few months that had a sudden rise - and an equally sudden drop when the developer at .GEARS decided to take it off the app stores.  Rest in Peace Flappy Bird.... Rest in Peace on all of the modern mobile systems out there today.

Flappy Bird On C64

But indie developers have been hard at work.  And today we discovered what we think is probably the coolest of all Flappy Bird ports... It's Flappy Bird On The Commodore 64.  With full credit given to the .GEARS developer, and ported over to the Commodore 64 by SOS.  What could be better than being able to play one of the hottest games of 2013 / 2014 on a 30+ year old computer system or a retro game system emulator.  Hats off to .GEARS for making it, and to indie developer SOS for porting it to the Commodore 64 system.

You can download Flappy Bird for the Commodore 64 here keeping in mind that you'll have to use an emulator to play it on anything other than real hardward.  We use the R4 3DS and FrodoDS on the Nintendo 3DS system found in our 3DS Homebrew Section, in order to load and play this really good indie port.
