With the availability of just one of our many selections of R4 3DS Flash card for your Nintendo DS or Nintendo 3DS, thousands of Homebrew games and hundreds of applications are instantly at your disposal.
Homebrew games on your Nintendo 3DS/Nintendo DS range from Puzzles games, Action, Shooters all the way up to Role-Playing games or RPG/SRPG. Some players got the impression that just because they are homebrew apps and/or games that are made by fans therefore the gameplay or graphics are less impressive than those made by other big name companies, these misconceptions are somewhat misunderstood at best. The homebrew communities during the past 5 years has come a long way and so has their knowledge of different systems or consoles themselves. In this case, the Nintendo 3DS XL portable and the Nintendo DS (Dual Screen) system. The improvements of recent homebrew games/apps truly have to be seen to be believed and some developers even challange and push the console specification limits itself.
Homebrew gaming graphics range from simple Two Dimensional platformers in single-scrolling method to Multi-scrolling method, for example games like Super Mario Bros. 3 uses muilt-scrolling of 3 different layers to create a rich and colorful world environments that let you experience a sense of depth in the 2D world. While Three Dimensionals graphics gaming are what we refered to games like the Super Mario 64 or any first-person veiwed games and also games that are found on our very own Nintendo 3DS portable system of course.
While 3D games have always been part of our standard of gaming experience in todays world as almost expected of, we have never gotten the time to appreciate the early works of third-dimensional gaming which set this very foundation of our FPS experiences today. The very first 3D gaming or close to it are games like Star Wars, programmed in lines or vectors back in the early 90s with the aimga and other popular personal computers. But the real breakthrough was with game that you may or may not have heard of before, named Wolfenstein 3D.

Wolfenstein 3D was truely the first pioneer to ever create a real 3D First-person perspective game, a game that no one thought was even possible during that time. When it was released back in 1992, Wolfenstein 3D really took the gaming world by storm, even people who don't personally own a pc would scamble to purchase one or visit their friend house just to play the game, of course there was no internet available for common users like today, so playing the game with a friend, meant you had to go and hang out with your friend who just bought the game...
Following its successful formula, other companies soon to followed suit with their very own first person shooter titles. But none of them have ever received the amount of praise as Wolfenstein 3D. After all, you can only re-design the gaming landscape once, and Wolfenstein 3D was it. Following Wolfenstein 3D, ID Software released several more FPS games. Namely Doom and Quake. Both of which expanded upon and made better the gaming style of Wolfenstein 3D. Quake especially pushed the limits of first person shooters back in the day, and was truly an amazing game to play. Which bring us to our personal number 2 of our list. Quake DS.

Now with the R4 3DS flash card for your Nintendo 3DS / DS not only will you be able to enjoy this epic classic title, but you will be able to enjoy the best of Wolfenstein 3d and Doom and all that they have to offer with this excellent homebrew game of QuakeDS. QuakeDS has really pushed the Nintendo DS system to its limits and beyond, with the lack of RAM under the Nintendo DS handheld system a lot fine-tuning had to be done without losing any of the features and graphical visualization. Some would dare say that this 10+ year old game, is the BEST first person shooter title for the Nintendo DS system in terms of graphics and gameplay. And you can download and play it for free.
Somehow the homebrew developers have done what most big name companies still can't seem to do, by shrinking the whole game with tons of optimizations to be compatible with the Nintendo DS. QuakeDS is definitely one of our top favorites for homebrew gaming. Of course all these amazing titles are only made possible if you own an R4 3DS Flash Card or R4i DS card. If you have not tried the QuakeDS then we really recommend you go ahead and download this amazing free game, you wont be disappointed!
