R4 3DS .org

The team behind the famous Wood R4 firmware kernel seems to just keep bringing more goodness to fans of the R4 DS and R4 3DS cards.  For those of you that don't know, Wood R4 is a third party firmware for some older model R4 cards as well as some new R4 3DS and R4i Gold 3DS cards too.  In many cases for older R4 DS cards, this is the only firmware that keeps adding the much needed compatibilty to bring all of the newest games and apps and make them compatible on older flash carts.  There are steady releases of the firmware, and it is constantly being updated by the developer behind it.  It's so good in fact, that often other manufacturers ask to have the Wood R4 team add support for their own cartridges.

It has a lot to do with the compatibility with the latest games and applications for the DS, Nintendo DSi and the Nintendo 3DS Xl.  If bugs are discovered by the homebrew community, the team quickly fixes them and adds even more features.  Wood R4 1.61 is the latest release in a long line of updates to this third party firmware.  Most often the updates being fixes for games that didn't work on previous versions, and as new games and apps are released, they too are made compatible.

You can get the latest Wood R4 from our R4 3DS Firmware section for immediate download.  If you have an original R4 DS card, or a newer R4iDSN card for the 3DS, then this firmware will work on your cards.  If you have our R4 3DS Dual Core, we're already using a custom Wood R4 version as part of our firmware for the card, to bring the best of compatibility to our customers.
