Loading... Please wait...The R4 3DS team has been hard at work coming up with a solution for the latest Nintendo 3DS system update. If you have updated your Nintendo 3DS to the new v2.1.3, you will have noticed that your r4 3ds card is no longer recognized / working on your game system. With any updated to the system on the 3DS, the risk of it rendering the R4 cards incompatible is there. Thankfully the R4 3DS team have a dedicated team of developers that are always working to ensure that their cards will continue to be compatible.
For those of you that have updated your 3ds to 2.1.3, you'll need to download the latest kernel version from our downloads section and update the kernel files on your micro SD card. Without updating, your r4 won't work with the new version and you will be unable to play your freeware and homebrew games and applications. Your Nintendo 3DS will not recognize that the card is plugged in, and will behave just as it would if you did not have any card in the console. In order to update you will need to download the newest kernel, and unzip the file on your PC or MAC computer. The contents of the folder that unzipping it will create are the firmware files that you will have to copy over to your micro SD card. Your old firmware files will be over written during the copy process (you may be prompted to copy and replace in Windows) and once completed, you are able to plug your R4 3DS in to your Nintendo 3DS system and it will once again be recognized.
If you have not yet updated to version 2.1.3 on your 3DS system, then there is no need to update to this newest firmware. V2.1.3 does not add any significant features to your Nintendo 3DS, and as such is not a must have update for your game system. You can stay at your current version and remain there. Just make sure that when you do decide to update, that you take care of your R4 3DS firmware first.
