Nintendo 3DS v5.0.0 Update Released - New 2013 Cards Work Out Of The Box

If you have one of our newest R4 3DS Dual Core Cards, the new 2013 version, and your Nintendo 3DS or 3DS XL has been updated to the newest v5.0.0 update, then you'll be able to use your new 2013 version card without having to update the R4 cards in any way. The latest firmware will work out of the box with this new v5.0.0 system version. If however you have one of our other R4 3DS cards, please do NOT update your Nintendo 3DS system to the latest v5.0.0 update until the new firmware kernel has been posted to our R4 3DS Firmware page. Once we have have the latest firmware available, simply download and install it, and once installed you can then go ahead and update your Nintendo 3DS system.

If you do update, the only consequence will be that your R4 3DS will not be recognized by the console until we have the newest firmware available. Your R4 3DS is not broken, it's simply not recognized as it requires a new kernel. We say this only because you may have already updated automatically. Don't worry, we'll have a new firmware update coming out within the next week or so, and your card will be up and running again.
