R4 3DS .org

We've been hard at work to bring compatibility for the R4 3DS for the latest 6.2.0 Nintendo 3DS update.  We've now tested the firmware kernels for all of the cards we currently have available, and we're happy to announce that the new kernel is now available for download from our R4 3DS Firmware downloads section.

The R4 3DS Dual Core has been updated and is now fully working and 100% compatible with the newest 3DS and 3DS XL updates.  The new 6.2.0 compatible kernel is available in our R4 3DS Firmware section for immediate download.  Our Dual core kernel now has a multi firmware option build in.  It has the original firmware, but users can also select the secondary kernel as well.  This enables you to pick which firmware you would like to use on your Nintendo 3DS.  Allowing you to add compatibility for even more homebrew games and applications.

Our R4 3DS RTS Card (Silver Edition) has also received a kernel update to ensure it will also work on your hand held.  This new firmware also brings with it some compatibility fixes.  So be sure to download the latest kernel and update your card.

The red box R4 3DS cards have also been upgraded now.  The R4 without the RTS functions unfortunately can not receive an update due to limitations in the hardware.  However, customers who purchased from us, should contact us for a special offer on a different card.

The setup guides we have available in our R4 3DS Setup section, still hold true for how you must setup your card when you first receive it.  If you have however already updated your NIntendo 3DS or 3DS XL system to the newest 6.2.0 without first loading the new kernel, then you will need to use an older DS, DS lite, nintendo DSi or DSI XL in order to run the firmware updater, which is also in our downloads section, before you can load the latest firmware on the micro SD card. 

While the updater is simple to use, and you need only to follow the on screen instructions, we know that not everyone has a DS or DSi available.  Often times though, friends or family may have a DS or DSi system which could be used for this one time update.

It is for this reason we always urge customers to NOT upgrade their 3DS consoles prior to having a new firmware available.
